AN innovative healthy project for villagers in and around Horrabridge is expected to be launched this September. The Healthy Horrabridge Project is a new idea from John Howells, of Dousland, who hopes to get the whole village involved in this year-long project. Every organisation is invited to participate and come up with ideas as to what contribution they could make to the project. So far, the local school and the Cavaliers have backed the project and will be hosting events. Mr Howells said if people really wanted to live healthier lives then no amount of TV reality shows or magazines giving ways to become a stick insect would have any lasting effect. He said: 'The only solution is that we must all help ourselves and as a community help each other. A supportive self-help community can achieve where other short-term gimmicks fail. 'Thus, the proposal is for a village-wide totally inclusive project with the village being pro-active.' In order for the project to be launched in September, Mr Howells wishes to gauge support and feedback for the idea at an open meeting in the village hall today (Thursday at 7.30pm.
