I AM delighted to see that a start has been made to paying back the Tavistock ratepayers. This year my Council Tax will be £71.40 less than a similar property in Okehampton Town.
Provided a similar differential in Tavistock's favour is held for a further two years, my last year's overpayment of £175.91 will be made good to me and all Tavistock ratepayers.
Comparisons are odious but it would be interesting to know what standard of services both Tavistock and Okehampton town are receiving that justify a B Band property in Okehampton Town paying £736.24 when my daughter in Poole, Dorset, pays only £650.65 for her B Band property. Much closer to home, B Band properties in Saltash pay £668.75.
Are East Cornwall and Poole Borough giving that much worse service than West Devon or are they more efficiently run?
