ON behalf of the Lions Club of Tavistock, I would like to sincerely thank all those people who most kindly donated their unwanted Christmas presents and other items for the ?bring and buy? stall that we had last Saturday at the farmers? market in Bedford Square in aid of the Tsunami Disaster appeal. We collected £1,452 on the day and this will be forwarded to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) which is consolidating the donations from fellow Lions Clubs all over the country for distribution to Lions Clubs in the countries affected by this disaster. This will enable them to buy locally much needed supplies which can then be forwarded to the areas of their countries in most need. The generosity of the people of Tavistock and the surrounding area never ceases to amaze us but the response to this disaster appeal has exceeded all our expectations. I would also like to thank everybody who purchased goods on the day and those who simply added their donations to our collecting buckets. Finally, a big thank you to the farmers? market for giving us one of their best placed stalls for the morning and to JAG Communications of Tavistock for allowing us to store the donated goods in their shop prior to the sale and also for the donation of a mountain bike. A wonderful effort by all concerned. Steve Grummitt Lions Club of Tavistock May I thank the people of Tavistock for their over-whelming generosity in donating to the Asian tsunami disaster appeal, and all the organisations and individuals who have worked so hard to raise so many thousands of pounds. It is a quite incredible response. Once again the people of Tavistock have shown their generosity of spirit knows no bounds. I would also like to remind people to please, please make sure donations are eligible for Gift Aid ? it really makes a tremendous difference to the final total which is raised. Cllr Jenny Metcalf Mayor of Tavistock
