OVER recent weeks, I have noticed an increasing presence of traffic wardens in Tavistock. Even to the extent that on Tavistock Steam Fair day (a Sunday), there were two traffic wardens in town checking cars for tax discs and parking offences.

On previous weekends, when I have been at work, I have personally witnessed a traffic warden in the main street of Tavistock at two minutes before nine o'clock in the morning, checking vehicles.

As Tavistock is meant to be the best market town in the South West and is also part of a World Heritage Site, do we really think that this is a welcoming sight to any visitors to the town?

Personally, if I came into Tavistock as a visitor and saw these over-zealous wardens patrolling the streets, I would probably continue with my journey.
