A FASCINATING stroll in some beautiful woodland is on offer near Sticklepath this weekend when Dartmoor National Park Authority's head of woodlands, Rupert Lane, guides an acorn walk through Skaigh Woods.

Saturday's walk is free and participants can learn about Dartmoor's ancient woodlands while assisting the regeneration of these habitats.

Any acorns gathered will be brought on in the National Park Authority's nursery and eventually planted back in the same woodland, ensuring genetic continuity and trees that will adapt well to the location.

The walk will take about one-and-a-half to two hours — meet at Finch Foundry car park at 10.30am.
