A FAIR which began in Tavistock in the early 16th century has been resurrected in the town's Meadows.
The fair was officially opened to the public yesterday (Wednesday) by the town's mayor and mayoress Robin and Diana Pike.
From the 16th century to the 19th century, a fair was held each April in Tavistock celebrating St Mark, whose feast day is held on April 25, the anniversary of his martyrdom.
This fair will be held until Saturday, April 18 from 6pm to 9pm, and 4pm to 9pm over the Bank Holiday weekend.
• On Thursday, April 16 from 4pm to 6pm, disabled youngsters and adults will have the chance to ride the fairground rides for free for two-hours.
