Tavistock Men's Hockey A 0
PGSOB B 1
TAVISTOCK came into the match having won three of their last four matches. Despite PG's being joint top of the South West Division 1 they felt they could get something out of the match.
But within a few minutes of the first half they were up against it as PGs gained a soft short corner and the resulting shot nestled in the corner of the goal, having eluded both goalkeeper Kelly and defender Bradley.
Tavistock were not overawed by the visitors and the game moved fluently from one end of the pitch to the the other with both teams having many chances. Reynolds struck the post with a crashing shot halfway through the first half after excellent interplay down the Tavistock right hand side, and the returning Lovett was a driving force in the midfield in his first game for the club in a few weeks.
Man of the match Bellard assisted by Bradley, Mills, Wheatley, Barratt and Holland kept PGs dangerous forward line at bay and when they did manage to get a shot in Kelly dealt with everything thrown at him, in particular a diving save to his left where the ball was already past him but he still managed to turn it away for a long corner.
Tavistock had numerous chances to score but very similar to the other end the PGs defence dealt with much of what they could throw at them and when they did get through the PGs keeper kept everything out.
At the final whistle the team took great heart from the way they played against top opposition and will be confident they can return to winning ways when they face Marjons away this weekend.
