TAVISTOCK Tennis Club men's A team had its first win of the season in the league in a local derby against Yelverton and the D team a resounding win against Looe last week.

With the ladies, the A team had a good win against Hill Lane A where it was remarkable that the opposition played a nine-year-old junior to make up their team and she held her own against the seniors.

Results for week 5 — Seniors: Men's A team won 8-0 at home against Yelverton. Bernard Mowle and Simon Thomas v their 1st pair; 6-4, 6-4: v 2nd pair; 6-3, 6-4. Ray Hinton and Sean Jefferson v their 1st pair; 6-3, 6-4: v 2nd pair; 6-3, 6-2.

B team lost 2-7 at home against St. Budeaux A. Phil Harbottle and Owen Locker v their 1st pair; 4-6, 4-6: v 2nd pair; 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Chris Poole and Jonathan Stephens v their 1st pair; 3-6, 1-6: v 2nd pair; 4-6, 2-6.

C team lost 26 at home against Torpoint A. Alan Bruce and Tony Finnigan v their 1st pair; 5-7, 3-6: v 2nd pair; 2-6, 1-6. Mo Jayarajah and Steve Fletcher v their 1st pair; 6-3, 6-1: v 2nd pair; 4-6, 3-6.
