THE Lambs finished the season at home in style with this comfortable victory over the Ashes. But it took until the final quarter before they settled it.
How it ended up with just two goals remains a mystery as it should have been at least double that score. Craig Hodge, Pete Gibson and Steve Daymond all missed chances in the first half when the game was there for the taking.
There were at least four goal-line clearances as the Lambs completely dominated the first half. They finally made the breakthrough with ten minutes remaining with a flowing move from one end to the other. Andy Meeds fed Graeme Kirkup to supply Gibson for him to head into the path of Daymond to run at the Ashes defence and lift the ball over James Dungey.
Daymond cracked one in that smacked against an upright then missed a sitter after Mark Wall squared one to him across the area.
The game was sealed a minute before time when Simon Parnell's determination made him win possession in the area finally to pass to Hodge to slam home.
The 50-point barrier had been breached that will see the Lambs finish in a creditable 7/8th final position.
