AN autistic child from Tavistock is to benefit from a specially designed playroom funded with cash raised by friends, family and the Tavistock community. Paul Lewis? special playroom was officially opened on Sunday, much to the delight of the Lewis family and all those involved in the project. The room has been designed to create the best environment to interact with Paul and assist his development. Paul?s father, Allen, expressed ?a very important thank you? to Rod Hobbs and Jill Eliasson, who built the room, a couple to whom he said his family were indebted for their hard work and support. Now that the playroom is completed a team of trained carers can work with Paul, who was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder last year, to assist his development. Allen said that the Lewis family have been touched by the kindness of the Tavistock community and invite other families with autistic children to come and see the room which he hopes they too will benefit from.
