TWO Okehampton firms discovered the writing on the wall during renovation of new offices to accommodate their expanding businesses. In the 1960s, decorators at Wykeham House in Station Road signed their names as the proud tradesmen who papered the three-storey property from top to bottom. And this week, local decorators Charlie Letchford and Herbie Hubbard signed their names next to the date at which the original work was carried out. Design and marketing consultants Touchwood Design and accountants Tunmore discovered the names along with a message claiming responsibility for the makeover, during their six-month renovation programme of the building. Having retained the Edwardian-tiled entrance hall, fireplaces and original sash windows and replaced the 50-year old wallpaper with muted paints, the two companies have settled in and are looking to rent out the remaining office suites to other local businesses. Partner of Touchwood Design, Alan Simons said: ?We decided to grow the company in Okehampton as technology today means that we can operate our design and marketing business from Devon and reach our clients in Scotland and the rest of the UK with the same ease as our more local customers.?
