THE old-fashioned red telephone boxes in Mary Tavy are due to be spruced up this summer, thanks to work by volunteers from the village's Jubilee Group.

Mary Tavy has three red BT phone boxes — one by the war memorial, one near the church and the other at Horndon — but all are in a bad state of repair, with flaking paint.

The Jubilee Group has been in touch with BT and has arranged for all of them to be painted, the work taking place during the summer.
