WINE, wisdom and water were all on the agenda as West Devon residents again showed their generosity by supporting villages half the world away. Devon Aid Korogwe, which helps provide water to villages in the Korogwe district of Tanzania, was recently supported by the annual 'Wine and Wisdom' event held in Bratton Clovelly. Organisers reported the event to be a huge success, with more than 20 teams taking part and enjoying a good spirited evening. Vivien England, speaking on behalf of DAK, said: 'The ultimate winners were once again the team led by Richard Verschoyle from Broadbury. 'Runners up, Dutson Devils, were only two points less and had an incomplete team. 'Eight more villages have been supplied with new wells within the last few months. Okehampton Rotary Club contributing for one at the village of Kwetonge. 'There are still a great many villages where the women experience tremendous difficulties to get their family's daily requirement of clean water.' Thanks were expressed to question master, David Arney and scorers, David and Susan Hill, as well as to all who brought raffle prizes along, contributing towards the £650 raised for DAK.
