SEVEN months after its launch in May, Walkhampton Market and Coffee Shop continues to be a popular Saturday morning venue for villagers and the wider community.
It is fulfilling the hopes of the organisers as a place where people can meet friends while shopping for the staple foods of meat, bread, fish and vegetables before sitting down to share the week's news over a welcome cafetiere of coffee or a pot of tea, accompanied by a slice of home-made cake, each item costing only 50p.
Each week a selection of other goods is on sale, including regulars like plants, Traidcraft, second-hand books and pet food, with various crafts and special treats adding variety. On November 22 there is a Christmas Special with many extra craft and Christmas foods on sale. Trees and wreaths will be available to order. On December 20 the market will have a party theme — Father Christmas in his grotto, mulled wine and mince pies for adults.
The market takes place every Saturday from 10am till midday in the memorial hall.
