THEY have never spent any time apart in 70 years and Fred and Dorothy Tomkins' platinum wedding anniversary was celebrated with a special party with family members at Spring House Residential Home in Peter Tavy last week.
The couple met at a holiday camp in Norfolk. Dorothy was from Liverpool and had a hairdressing salon there and Fred was from Fulham in London and worked for British Gas and was a keen cricketer in his spare time.
They were married at St Bridget's Church, Wavertree in Liverpool but moved south to Staines after the wedding and had two daughters Jackie and Dorothy.
The couple retired to Cornwall in 1976 and had a very active retirement travelling and sequence dancing which they continued until their 90s.
They won a bottle of wine for being first on the dance floor when they were on their last cruise in 2004.
Fred and Dorothy Tomkins have three grandsons, one great grandson and one great grand-daughter.
Fred, who is now 97 and Dorothy, 96, moved to Spring House 18 months ago. All staff and residents at the home expressed best wishes to the couple and wished them every happiness for the future.
