BELSTONE?S highest total so far this season in their four home 40-over matches has been 136.
On Tuesday night in their latest home Buckley Cup match against Yeoford they rattled up 149 for 4 wickets in just 20 overs ? the fifth highest 20 over score since the club re-formed in 1993 ? thanks mainly to powerful hitting from Wayne Pearce, Simon Tremain and Eddie Jones, who all retired having reached 25.
Only Hearn, with two for 13 from his four overs, managed to keep the runs in check. Faced with a run rate of 7.5 an over Yeoford had to take chances and swing the bat from the start.
At 50 for four in the tenth over with both Corens going well they had a chance, but with Robert Hall producing a beauty to bowl Cleave Collins, and further wickets for Pete Gross and Rob Sandercock, Yeoford were eventually all out for 73 at the end of the 16th over.
Belstone?s South Devon League division 2 game against Dawlish and Teignmouth came to a premature end last Sunday when rain washed out proceedings after 30 overs of the visitor?s innings.
At the time Dawlish and Teignmouth were well on the way to setting a formidable target having begun with a fine opening partnership of 94 in 15 overs between Preston (73) and Alcock (38).
Belstone are on tour to Cornwall this weekend, with games against Mount Edgecumbe and Fowey followed on Tuesday July 1 by a Buckley Cup evening fixture at home against Yeoford.
