IT?s all change if you bank at the Okehampton branch of NatWest. Town mayor Christine Marsh has officially unveiled a bright new upgrade of the Fore Street premises which ranges from improved access to new staff uniforms.

Speaking after the ceremony on Monday, Nick James, Okehampton?s branch manager, said: ?We?ve spent the past few years working hard to transform NatWest into a more customer-friendly bank.

?I?m very excited about the changes we?ve made at the Okehampton branch to ensure that it?s a modern and comfortable place.?

Okehampton has become one of the first NatWest branches in the UK to have work carried out to improve access for all customers and cut waiting times.

As part of the refurbishment the branch has also taken the opportunity to refresh its brand identity.

The highly recognisable ?chevron? which has served NastWest as an instantly recognisable logo for 30 years remains in Okehampton?s Fore Street ? but is now brought up to date with a splash of colour.

Also, the Okehampton team have unveiled their new uniforms which are designed to complement the new look.

The redecorated branch now boasts automatic doors, an audio induction loop at all tills, to benefit customers with hearing aids, and better use of colours to help the visually impaired.

Mr James said he would like to thank customers ?for their patience and support? while the work had been going on.

The history of NatWest in Okehampton can be traced back 166 years when, in 1837, the National Provincial Bank opened a branch in the town.
