AS one who has taken my life in my hands by cycling on the A386 from the Dartmoor Diner to Yelverton I fully sympathise with the need for a cycle path on this stretch of the road.

However, may I suggest a course of action for those cyclists going all the way to Yelverton, which would partially assuage the problem? Take the road towards Clearbrook and pick up the cycle track No 27 which would take you all the way to Tavistock once the Gem Bridge is in operation.

This route may add five minutes to your journey, but better safe than sorry.

The section from the Diner to the Clearbrook turn-off would still have to be negotiated but that is a relatively small  stretch.
