TAVISTOCK Badminton Club has had a mixed start to the new season.
The A team lost 6-3 to Salisbury/Armada. Tavistock found the men too strong and lost in straight sets.
The ladies took one event and the team battled well to take two mixed events and will hope to do well in the return at home.
The D team started well at Torpoint, but an injury to Gill Northey meant conceding three events and the club eventually won 6-3.
The next match against University B was a major disappointment as Tavistock could only field one lady player and lost 8-1.
The team is in danger of folding unless more ladies come to the club.
It has a relaxed friendly playing standard and perhaps tennis players who do not play in the winter could be interested.
Further details from Ray Northey on Tavistock 617727 or turn up at Horrabridge Primary School on a Friday night.
