THE Ten Tors Orchestra and Choir will perform their Gala Christmas Concert at St Eustachius Church, Tavistock, on Saturday December 16 at 7.30 pm. The festive programme will include Mozart's Symphony No. 31 'Paris', Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz, choruses from Handel's Messiah, carols by John Rutter and traditional carols with audience participation. The guest soloist is the brilliant young Irish tenor Seán Ruane. A rising star in the world of opera, Seán will perform Puccini opera arias from La Bohème, Tosca and Turandot including Nessun Dorma, songs from Lehar's operettas including You are My Heart's Delight and Adam's O Holy Night. Simon Ible, conductor of the Ten Tors Orchestra, said: 'This concert signifies for many people around the region the beginning of the Christmas festivities. 'St Eustachius is one of the largest churches in Devon and always boasts a magnificent Christmas tree. 'When you add to the mix the magic of music and everyone — orchestra, choir and audience — joining in to perform a selection of the most popular carols, this event will be the perfect Christmas celebration.
