STAFF at a West Devon garage have agreed to swap their jacks for safety harnesses when they abseil 150ft down Exeter College next month to raise money for the CLIC Sargent cancer charity. A team of five members of staff at Bridestowe Garage have agreed to undertake the sponsored abseil on December 4. Alan Balsdon will be bravely joined by Lee Balsdon, Mike Balsdon, Austin Kiley and Chris Back to take the plunge for charity. Alan was motivated to do the abseil because his five year-old daughter Lyndsey was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. He said he had first-hand experience of the excellent support CLIC Sargent offered after Lyndsey?s diagnosis and subsequent treatment in Bristol. Alan said his daughter was doing well and had one more session of chemotherapy to go. Austin said: ?We are all looking forward to it. It is going to be quite exciting and we are thinking about doing in in fancy dress.? Anyone who wants to sponsor the team can do so by visiting the garage or telephoning 01837 861222. Alan will be collecting sponsorship money outside Somerfields in Okehampton between 9.30am and noon on Saturday.
