IN THEIR first game in the league of the season, North Tawton were short on time and players.

The long trip to Dartmouth took twice as long as normal due to the volume of traffic and North Tawton players arrived at kick-off time with no moments to settle — straight onto the pitch.

Unlike many sides who do not publish bad results North Tawton can and do, and hold their heads high because despite the scoreline they can take pride in the way they held the home side in the scrums and lineouts.

But it was in the backs that Dartmouth held the key and exploited it well.

Dartmouth were full of praise for North Tawton for honouring this fixture after their difficult journey.

Captain Neil Peters need not be despondent again having introduced some old players back into the fold, namely Steve Hammond and Brian Crisp.

Selections chairman Peter Hoggins was full of praise for his side and explained this was a one-off.

North Tawton are home this Saturday to Ilfracombe in the Powergen Vase kick off 3pm. Come on down and enjoy the afternoon.
