A 24-HOUR charity darts marathon took place at Stoke Climsland Social Club recently to raise money for the Pirate Trust and cancer charity Myeloma UK.

The event, involving three teams of four people, is expected to raise in the region of £1,500.

One of the players Dave Shaddick, a Myeloma sufferer who has recently set up a support group for the disease, said afterwards that his arms were still aching from the event but it was worth it.

'We managed to stay awake with cups of tea and refreshments, kindly donated by Tesco and Tamar Fruiterers,' he said.

The Pirate Trust is the charitable arm of Pirate FM.
