FOUR students from Okehampton College will be sky diving for charity next month and are appealing for sponsorship.

Sixth formers Connie Smith, Tim Hall, Tom Webster and George Argles have always had a desire to do a parachute jump but have decided to go one step further to raise money for the mental health charity MIND.

The sky dive on April 14 at Honiton is one of six events across the country organised by the charity to boost its funds and the four youngsters each have to raise £350 to take part.

Connie Smith, 16, said the sky dives would done in tandem with an instructor and would involve a one-mile free-fall.

'We are not nervous at the moment but we will be,' said Connie. 'We are looking forward to the challenge but it's about helping the charity as well — one in four people will suffer mental health problems some time in their life.'

If anyone wants to sponsor the students, they can call Connie on 01647 440361.
