WATERCOLOUR paintings of West Devon are not the usual sight when having hair snipped, but at a barber shop in Horrabridge, customers can admire art while in for a trim.

Horrabridge amateur painter John Holt will be displaying his watercolours of local scenery in Kelly's Barber Shop to give the residents of Horrabridge an opportunity to see his work.

Mr Holt said: 'I took up painting in my retirement eight years ago, and joined an art club where we were taught by professionals. I very much enjoy painting.

'I did a painting of Kelly's Barber Shop and Kelly liked it so much she bought it. Then we decided to display my other pieces in the shop so people can see my work and buy it if they like.'

All Mr Holt's paintings are photo-sized and include scenes of Horrabridge and Plymouth as well as other areas.
