'PHENOMENAL' is how the founder of Callington's Kelliwik Festival described last weekend's event which saw 56 acts performing over three days.

The biggest free music festival in Cornwall saw all kinds of music from blues to rock and orchestral throughout the event which around 4,000 people attended.

Such was the success of the inaugural Kelliwik Music Festival last year that it was given a Lottery grant to help cover costs in 2015 and as well as three marquees of music, there were many sidestalls and attractions.

The sun brought out the crowds and there were capacity audiences for Callington Primary?School's Lion King performance which opened the festival on Friday and for the Proms in the Park with Callington's own Kelliwik Orchestra and Singers who brought the house down with 'Jerusalem', 'Land of Hope and Glory' and 'Pomp and Circumstance'.

'On Saturday a whole 80kg pig was consumed on the hog roast and the quality of music was fantastic.

'Particular highlights were Orangutan Wheelbarrow for rock and Dudlow Crow for blues but everyone was brilliant really.

'There was no trouble over the weekend and we had no complaints from neighbours, in fact many were supportive of the festival.

'There was a really great family atmosphere as well.

'By the end of Monday all that was evident of something being there was footmarks on the grass.

'Everything was cleared away and it just all went very smoothly.'

It is hoped there will be another Kelliwik Festival in 2016.
