A FANTASTIC time was had by all those attending the Bere Ferrers Village day. The event was centred around two different plans, proposed by the Bere Ferrers Villagers Group, for the playground in the recreation field. The scheme is the third phase in the ongoing development of the field. Residents of the village were given the opportunity to discuss any aspects of the two designs and cast their vote. The winning design was Plan A and will be on display in the Bere Ferrers Village Hall. The first part of the fun day was held in the village hall with a host of activities for children of all ages although many of the adults could not resist taking part. Onlookers were amazed at the muscular prowess of Matilda Clarke?s right forearm as she annihilated opposition in the arm wrestling competition. The double act of Ella Milne and Shannon Morris took the team prize in Giant Jenga with Lucy Hann winning the individual event. All three will now have their names engraved on the much coveted Bere Ferrers Playground Trophy, which is awarded to winning participants in each event run in the support of the playground. After an exhausting afternoon the fun did not stop there, the Bere Ferrers Social Club hosted a disco starting at 6.30pm to allow the really little children to join in. The Playground plans were also on display at the disco and voting continued into the night. ?The response to the proposed playground has been amazing, it seems to have won support across generations and from different groups within the village,? said a spokesperson. During the afternoon fun and games Trevor Grinstead presented an unexpected cheque for £350 from the village watersports committee and this follows an amazing £530 raised from the village panto earlier in February. The total amount raised from Saturday?s fun day and raffle at the Social Club Disco came to £350. The next event is The Great Easter Egg Hunt at Bere Ferrers on March 26.
