THE 22nd Tavistock Steam Fair takes place on Sunday June 10 at the Wharf and in Bedford Car Park, off Plymouth Road.
Attractions include steam engines both full size and miniature, classic and vintage cars, commercials, military, barn engines and vintage tractors.
The Wharf auditorium will host an exhibition of model engineering, including the forever popular Meccano. Musical entertainment will be from brass ensemble Tubes and Dartmoor Border Morris. New this year will be a grand parade of 'bikers'.
The Frank Roffey Tavistock tractor trail will start and finish at the Steam Fair. The colourful line of between 30 and 40 restored tractors will be leaving at 11am and returning at 2pm, having visited the Abbotsfield nursing home, Kelly College and the Trout and Tipple public house.
The model-engineering exhibition within the Wharf will be showcasing local societies' intricate work including a large garden railway layout on the stage and a striking display of Meccano models and devices in the auditorium.
The Bedford and Wharf car parks will be closed from midnight on Saturday June 9 till 8pm on the Sunday. All other town car parks will be open as usual.
The steam fair opens at 10am. The official opening by the mayors of Tavistock and West Devon is at 11am.
Pedestrian access will be from the town end of Bedford car park and by Meadowlands pool. For safety reasons the Canal Road access will be for exhibitors only.
Entrance prices are £3.50 for adults, under 16 years free.
