PUMAS played their second mixed hockey match of the summer season.
Tavistock had a strong squad. Shane Lovett covered the back and cleared any threat of the ball coming through to keeper, James Pitts. Thomas Honey and Laura Stapleton linked well and created good opportunities for shots on goal.
John Barratt and Dominic Lovett kept the ball flowing across the pitch. The Pumas? defence was strong and Fiona Dunn picked up one of their key players and marked him out of the game. This allowed Emma White, Damian Heard and Honey to get stuck into the attacking area.
The ball soon came back up the pitch on the right and although Brian Rodda made a tackle it was slipped across to the edge of the D and hit past the keeper.
With heads high the Pumas went out for the second half more determined. Pitts made some cracking moves and Dunn and Susannah Boulle kept tightly on their players. The forward play of Jo Gaspar, Heard, Honey and Lovett made excellent crosses into the D for White and Barratt, Lovett (senior).
An excellent ball in from Honey allowed White to take a shot. It was rebound and Heard slotted it back into the goal.
At 1-1 in the early stages of the second half, Pumas were the dominant team and the attacks from the opposition were less frequent.
