THE ghostly apparition of Abbot Lyfing appeared to an audience enjoying a cream tea at the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock.

After telling the guests a little of the history of Tavistock Abbey, Abbot Lyfing — played by Tavistock resident Simon Dell — took them on a walk around the town to meet some of his fellow ghosts.

The cast of characters included Brother Egbert an apothecary who was very fond of the local mead and Betsy Grimbal, Sir Francis Drake and the Rev Bray and his novelist wife.

The production was organised by Tavistock Edge and followed a script written by Lou Hotchkiss-Knives. Thanks were expressed to The Bedford Hotel.
