OKEHAMPTON College recently hosted the first West Devon Primary School Indoor Athletics Final organised by the areas school sports co-ordinators and Armada Network.
With the top 3 teams progressing from previous local events to represent each area the final teams were Hatherleigh, South Tawton , Lewtrenchard, Whitchurch, St Peters and St Andrews.
Each team consisted of six boys and six girls and all children had to compete at standing long jump, chest pass, speed bounce, different distance team runs and a team relay.
Stuart Lord, Okehampton School sports co-ordinator said: 'There was a fantastic atmosphere that the schools created, of friendly competitiveness.
'There were some fantastic performances and a lot of personal bests on the day.
'Thanks to Okehampton College sixth form students and PE staff who helped run the event along with the Armada Network that help to develop athletics in the West Devon, Plymouth and Cornwall.
'This was a great event with children having a very active, fun and competitive time.'
Results: 1, Whitchurch, girls 70, boys 77 total 147; 2, St Peters, 69, 71, 140; 3, Hatherleigh, 67, 57, 124; 4, South Tawton, 66, 55, 121; 5, Lewtrenchard, 42, 59, 101; 6, St Andrews, 47, 43, 90.
Whitchurch go through to represent West Devon and the South and West School Sport Partnership in the Devon finals.
