THERE?s an opportunity to hear a variety of live music in Tavistock this weekend ? and raise money for a good cause. Tavistock College will host a performance by the medieval specialists Lammas on Saturday, between 10.30am and noon. The group played two highly successful concerts in the town during its charter celebration year ? in addition to listening to music played on a variety of medieval instruments, concert-goers will be able to put questions to the musicians. The concert in the school hall is free but donations are invited for the Tavistock Music Centre project at the college. And on Saturday the town plays host to the Devon County Youth Brass Band, when the talented young players take to the stage at 7pm in the town hall. Both concerts have been organised by Tavistock Music Live, which promotes and encourages participation and enjoyment of live music in the area. Tickets for the concert cost £3 for adults, £1.50 for children aged 16 and under ? all proceeds are in aid of the Tavistock Music Centre project.
