IT WAS wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves on Saturday night (14th) at our Jazz Picnic at Harford Bridge Holiday Park. We were very lucky to have glorious weather and a splendid venue.

Our thanks go to Mansbridge and Balment, Antex Electronics, Hewton Nursery and Westcountry Conveyors for sponsorship, Salisbury Henderson for printing and Pethick Transport for the ?Bandstand?.

Thanks you to those local companies who generously gave raffle prizes and the Round Table and Tavistock Lions Club for their help and support.

Thank you also to your newspaper for helping to distribute flyers and our two bands, the Carlton Big Band and the Roy Pellett Hot Four

None of it would have been possible without the wonderful help and generosity we received from Gerald, Irene, Lydia, Nigel and everyone at Harford Bridge. Many, many thanks.

We are delighted to announce that, after

expenses have been paid out, the event raised almost £3,400 for hospice funds.

Thank you to all who attended and helped to raise this fantastic total.

This year St Luke?s Hospice is celebrating 21 years of caring for the terminally ill. The future emphasis is to be on keeping patients in their own home where possible. Already the hospice comes out to Tavistock Hospital on Fridays to provide support to local patients in the Triangle Centre. ?The Hospice at Home? scheme is now being piloted in this area and has proved so successful that funding has been granted for the foreseeable future.

It costs a staggering £5 per minute to run the Hospice and the Tavistock Friends of St Luke?s are, as ever, busy helping to raise as much money as possible for this, our local hospice.

Thank you once gain to everyone for helping us to buy several more minutes!
