NORTH Tawton Amateur Dramatic Group ANTS held a surprise party to thank its long-time secretary and founder-member Janine Warre as she bowed-out from the group last week. Janine helped set up the group in 1985, and has been its secretary for 20 years. In that time, she has also worked as an assistant producer and as the group's wardrobe mistress — making costumes, and looking after thousands of others. She has also taken part in almost every production that ANTS has staged. 'I've been good witches, bad witches, you name it! The only way to describe all the roles I've had is "many and various",' Jeanine said. In the time that Janine has been with ANTS, it has grown significantly: 'Our youth drama group has really taken off — it's 50-strong now,' she said. President of ANTS Neil Hallam said Janine will be missed greatly 'as an invaluable member of the group and as a very good actress'. The group has many productions planned over the coming months. For information on joining either the adult or youth sections, call the new secretary Wendy Hill on 01837 82071.
