ALL sorts of 'facts' about Tavistock will be revealed at The Wharf tomorrow (Friday).
It's little known that Boadicea came from Tavistock, and not many people have previously been aware that President Eisenhower visited Tavistock, as did the Queen.
Roundheads and Cavaliers didn't only battle it out on the fields of war but also in a live televisiton interview, and Holmes and Watson have been brought back to Tavistock to help solve modern-day crimes. And not forgetting the landing in the centre of Tavistock by aliens.
Well, perhaps the title of the series of sketches, A Totally Unreliable History of Tavistock, indicates that not every story can be corroborated by facts. It seems there is a total lack of evidence, even for the quite plausible somewhat unorthodox Tavistock Driving Test.
If you belong to any local organisation, are part of the local council, or work for a local business, you might well find yourself, your friends or your colleagues grotesquely misrepresented.
As part of the Tavistock Music & Arts Festival, The Tavonians Theatre Company bring you an evening of delight and light-hearted fun, written by members Frank Woodcock and Catherine Barnes and directed by Steph Reese.
Tickets for A Totally Unreliable History of Tavistock are just £6 and are available from The Wharf box office on 01822 611166 or via The Tavonians' website http://www.tavonians.org.uk">www.tavonians.org.uk
Seating is informal and the bar will be open for both the two intervals.
