A HORRABRIDGE couple recently celebrated 60 years of wedded bliss with family and friends for their diamond wedding anniversary.

Barney and Pam Gawman married in February 1954 at Horrabridge Church and have lived at Franco Farm in the village ever since.

They had six children and now have nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, many of whom live in Horrabridge as well, although some have moved away over the years but still keep in close contact.

Known widely through the farming community, the couple have many friends and acquaintances.

Throughout the years, they have experienced many changes, including the upgrading of a generator to mains electricity and the installation of central heating instead of log fires at the farm, as well as various family dogs.

But always a constant at the farm is the warm welcome provided with a cup of tea and biscuit to any friends or family that call by.

Barney and Pam were treated to a family trip and a meal to celebrate the anniversary and were delighted to receive a letter of congratulations from the Queen.
