THERE?s an opportunity for residents in the West Devon area to get on their bikes and raise money for a good cause this spring. Cancer Research UK is holding its first ever Dartmoor Cycle Challenge this May and hopes plenty of riders will take part in the two courses, which take in some of the loveliest countryside in the area. Both courses, one 25 miles and one 50 miles, leave Coy Pool car park in Plymouth on Sunday May 15 and pass through Yelverton, Dousland, Burrator and Princetown. Sylvia Arlett, community fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, said: ?The event promises a great day out for families, friends and individuals. Whether you fancy a leisurely cycle or a team challenge, the course is ideal for all.? The cycle ride was originally set up last year by MOD police officer Andrew Tozer from St Budeaux, who lost his mother to cancer. Due to the success of the event, he and Cancer Research UK have thrown it open to everyone in the hope that as many people as possible will take part.
