HORRABRIDGE florist Nadia Taylor said she was 'completely shocked' to have clinched the coveted 'Best Wedding Floral Designer' award at the Westcountry Country Wedding Awards, held recently.
The awards are judged nominations from brides who had used Flowers Going Green for recent weddings. Nadia's business was the only one from West Devon to make the finals and one of just two in the county which had got this far in the regional competition.
Nadia said: 'We were up against 16 originally, and then it was down to the final six. It was a little bit of a shock to win, it took us a bit by surprise!
'We were up against some very good florists in the South West, so I really, really wasn't expecting us to win it.'
Nadia said a huge 'thank you' to the brides who had supported the business by nominating Flowers Going Green for the award, which is based on quality, service and value for money.
'It's not about being really expensive, it's about being accessible,' she said.
One bride who used Flowers Going Green said: 'Nadia was absolutely brilliant! She understood our budget and worked with us to make sure the flowers were still amazing even though we had a small budget. She was helpful and understanding throughout all of the planning. Our wedding wouldn't have been the same without her beautiful flowers! '
Another said: 'Nadia provided a very personal service with fantastic advice. When the flowers arrived on our wedding morning I was blown away.'
Flowers Going Green was founded by Nadia, 26, in 2009, when the recession was really beginning to bite. Despite hard economic times, her business has flourished and grown from her tiny Horrabridge premises.
