THE response to her request for baby toys to be sent to Africa together with clothes and other donated goods has delighted Operation Sunshine charity organiser for South Tawton and Sticklepath parishes, Barbara Baycock.
A ship?s container was loaded last month ready for its journey to Zambia ? and another will be loaded and depart early next month for the same destination.
?So many goods of every type were donated that they would not all fit in the first container, so we have got another,? said Mrs Baycock.
At the moment there is a particular need for baby clothes, feeding bottles, teats and baby food.
?Always welcome are educational items such as exercise books, drawing pads, pencils and colouring books,? she said.
Books for all ages are also much appreciated and if anyone knows of a school that is getting rid of text books because the curriculum has changed then Operation Sunshine can put them to good use.
Operation Sunshine welcomes donations of useful items ? but there are some items that cannot be used by the charity such as bric-a-brac, high-heeled boots and shoes and reading glasses.
