AN actor from a Tavistock theatre group gave his all for his art last week — all his hair at least.

Peter Clement is due to take the starring role in The King and I, performed by Tavistock Musical Theatre Company — and has just had his head, chest and arms shaved for the part.

The spectacular Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is one of the most expensive performances ever staged by the Theatre Company, formerly Tavistock Operatic Society.

It involves stunning costumes and is the first time the musical has been performed in Tavistock.

Peter Clement is joined by several new faces to the cast and a number of enthusiastic young performers who take on the role of the young princes and princesses.

The King and I runs from Tuesday October 31 to November 4 at the Wharf in Tavistock.

Tickets cost £7.50 for evening performances, children £5. The Saturday matinée costs £5 for all tickets — bookings are now being taken at the Wharf, on 01822 611166.
