LEWDOWN Cricket Club held their first ever Club Carnival at the Recreation Field on Sunday.

For the first time in their history Lewdown have run two competitive Saturday league teams this season. With the evening team and three Colts teams, there are some 55 registered players in the club.

The Club Carnival brought together all ages and abilities to enjoy a fun-packed day. The main attraction was the seven-a-side cricket competition, with mixed teams drawn against each other. This lasted throughout the day, with Dean?s Dynamos victorious.

A bowling machine, kindly supplied by Whitchurch CC, was one of the main highlights of the day, with speeds of 99 mph being faced by somewhat nervous batsmen.

A wrong handed throwing competition caused a lot of amusement, and all were kept well fed and watered by the barbecue and refreshments.

The day was a total success, with many players, partners, families and spectators enjoying the fine weather, amusements and company. Organiser Jack Skuse has promised to make it an annual event, which can only be good for Lewdown Cricket Club.
