WEST Devon Homes employee Kate Glanville recently celebrated 25 years of service in the social housing sector in West Devon. To mark her achievement, Kate was presented with a bouquet of flowers by chief executive Jean Peters. Kate started work with West Devon Borough Council in August 1980 as a keen 17- year-old, with posters of Starsky and Hutch on her bedroom wall. Her career with the council progressed through the posts of administration assistant to junior housing assistant and housing advisory clerk, leading eventually to housing officer. In 1997, before the council?s housing stock transfer to West Devon Homes, Kate took a sideways direction into her current post of IT support officer. Kate said: ?My career in the housing sector, serving both organisations, has been very rewarding and I am looking forward to continuing working with my colleagues at West Devon Homes. ?It has been a real juggle since the birth of my daughter, and my Starsky and Hutch posters are now replaced with family photos! ?Working full-time with family commitments has been a challenge, but it has made me fiercely better organised in order to cope with everything that needs to be done.? Jean Peters said: ?Kate is very modest, but twenty-five years of service to the housing sector is a great achievement. We are very proud of her and really appreciate all her hard work.?
