FUEL theft, thefts from vehicles and wreaths stolen from a churchyard are among the crimes in the Tavistock area this week.

• VANDALS smashed the back window of a Vauxhall Corsa parked on Plymouth Road on Friday, December 22 sometime between 9am and 3pm, CR/110861/17.

Criminals also used screws to burst both rear tyres of a red Mitsubishi ATX sometime between 10pm on Friday evening, December 22 and 2.20pm on Saturday, CR/111233/17.

• DIESEL worth £350 was siphoned from an articulated lorry parked on the Pitts Cleave Industrial Estate sometime between 4pm on Friday, December 22 and 6.30pm on Saturday, December 23. CR111302/17.

The thieves forced a cap off to gain access to the fuel.

• THE NUMBER plate, WG17 FEO, was stolen from a silver Kia Sportage park in Marythorne Road in Bere Alston sometime 4pm on December 26 and 1pm on December 27. CR112062/17.

• A HANDBAG was stolen from a car parked at Merrivale on the B3357 while the owner was walking on the moors. The theft took place between 3.30pm-4.50pm on Thursday, December 28.

The bag contained a driving licence, a purse containing a debit card and £40 cash, a Samsung mobile phone and make-up. CR112402/17.

‘Please be aware that thieves don’t just operate in the summer, they’ll be out and about in the winter too when people are going up on the moors,’ said PCSO Kevin Williams.

• WREATHS were stolen from graves in Mary Tavy’s parish graveyard sometime between December 1 and 28, CR/112520/17.
