TWO Tavistock men have been charged in connection with the robbery of an elderly man in the town earlier this week.
David Knight, 35, and 30-year-old Tony Robert James McDonough were remanded in custody by Exeter Magistrates until they appear for trial.
It is alleged that the men robbed a quantity of cash from a man in his 80s at around 10.30am on Monday, October 10 in Tavistock town centre.
Mr Knight and Mr McDonough appeared before Exeter Magistrates via a TV link in a new initiative by Devon and Cornwall Police to deal with court hearings by means of ’virtual courts’
Because of the serious nature of the alleged offence, police applied to magistrates to keep both men in custody until their trial.
The case was adjourned to November 14 when the men will appear at Plymouth Crown Court.
