DARTMOOR Search and Rescue Tavistock were called to help an injured teenage girl off the moor for treatment over the weekend.

On Saturday (January 26) the team was called by police to assist with an incident between Devil’s Tor and Rough Tor. One of a group of eight girls, aged 14 and 15 and training for Ten Tors, was injured and could not proceed further. Members were deployed in heavy rain and low cloud to locate the group. They were located near the head of a valley 500-metres to the south west of Rough Tor and the injured girl was assessed.

The girl was taken by air ambulance to Holming Beam which she was transferred to a road ambulance for transport to Derriford Hospital. Team members escorted the rest of the group back to their minibuses.
