SHOPLIFTING alcohol and damage to a parking meter are among the crimes in the Okehampton area this week.
• In Okehampton’s skatepark a bike was criminally damaged on September 1 sometime between 3pm and 3.30pm. The bike was left unattended for a short period and it was damaged in the park by unknown means. CR/074841/17.
• A jacket and mobile phone was stolen from a locker at Okehampton Army Training Camp. The incident happened on August 31 between 1pm and 11pm. There are currently no suspects. CR/074587/17.
• On Friday, September 1 between 5.30pm and 6pm a bottle of vodka was stolen from Okehampton Co-op. The thief was caught on CCTV concealing the bottle inside one of his pockets. CR/074828/17.
• At 10.52pm on Saturday, September 2 a male offender entered Okehampton’s Co-op and picked up a bottle of vodka and put a different bottle in his pocket. The male offender attempted to pay for one bottle but was refused and ran out of the store. CR/075172/17.
• Items worth £350 were stolen from a white vehicle parked in Hatherleigh between 2.30pm on September 2 and 3pm the following day. Two driving ramps were stolen from the back of the white Vauxhall pick-up truck. Police would like to remind those with open-back vehicles to not leave valuable items unattended. CR/075402/17.
• Offenders in Okehampton attempted to break into the parking meter in Simmons Park between 4.30pm on September 3 and 10.15am on September 4. The offenders were unable to gain entry and nothing was stolen, however the parking meter was left with damage. CR/075612/17.
• There was damage caused to a wooden sign in Rowan Close, South Zeal. The sign read ‘no hunting’, however the offender changed the word ‘no’ to ‘pro’ with a black marker pen. The incident happened on Sunday, September 3. CR/075675/17.
• Criminal damage was caused to houses at The Heathers in Okehampton between midnight on September 4 and 3pm on September 5. CR/076143/17.
• Batteries were stolen from Okehampton’s Recycling Centre on September 6 between 1am and 1pm. The offender broke the padlocks to gain entry to the secured site and stole car batteries. This is the second theft from the centre in the last three weeks and police are pursuing the enquiry. CR/076377/17.
