BREAK-INS to a motor home, car and development site are included in this week’s police desk.
• A motor home parked at Fernworthy Reservoir was entered by thieves on Monday, February 20.
The owners left it parked unattended for several hours between 11.30am and 2.30pm. When they returned to the vehicle they found that someone had entered it and stolen items from the front passenger seat.
There was no damage to the vehicle but property stolen from inside included a handbag, within which was a iPad in a brown cover and a black Samsung Galaxy 2 mobile phone, so the thieves got away with quite a valuable haul.
The victims were visiting from Dorset.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number CR/12677/17.
• A sat nav was stolen from a car parked in High Street, Okehampton recently.
The theft took place overnight on Monday/Tuesday, February 20/21.
Police said this was the first such theft in the town in a while and may signify that a new local thief is on the scene.
Make sure your car is locked and secure and that no valuables are left on display. If you have a sat nav or other valuable equipment that is often in your car, keep the original paperwork somewhere separate so police can have the serial numbers if it is stolen. CR/12910/17.
• A break-in was reported at a site under development in Castle Road, Okehampton over the period of Tuesday, February 21 at 5.30pm to Wednesday, February 22 at 8.30am.
Burglars got into the site by cutting off a padlock on security gating. They entered several premises being worked on and stole power tools and equipment belonging to a variety of contractors. Officers are in the process of seizing and examining CTV from systems located in surrounding private premises. CR/13226/17.
