POLICE were called to a Tavistock bank recently after staff were concerned for an elderly gentleman in a nursing home who had a large sum of money taken from his account. No permission had been given to use his bank card.

A spokesperson from Tavistock police said: ‘This is a fantastic example of how the banks are protecting their elderly and vulnerable customers.

‘Enquiries are ongoing but please be aware that there are many fraudsters out there so be careful.’

A TAVISTOCK man has been charged with wasting police time after a number of false calls over a period time. He received a fine for the offence. CR/027944/18.

ON Friday, March 30 between 10am and 11am in Postbridge, a car was broken into via smashing a back window and a handbag was taken. CR/027095/18.

ON Sunday, April 1 between 1pm and 2pm in Postbridge, a car was broken into by the offender drilling a hole on the nearside door lock, once the car was entered, various items were stolen. CR/027625/18.

A PURSE was stolen from a locker at a Tavistock leisure centre on Saturday, March 31 between 2.30pm and 3.15pm. CR/027690/18.

ALCOHOL was stolen from Co-op in Brook Street, Tavistock, on Tuesday, April 3 at 12.45pm. The offender was caught on CCTV. CR/028159/18.

A WOMAN had a mobile phone stolen from her handbag by an unknown person at 4.30pm on Friday, March 30 while shopping at Morrisons in Tavistock. CR/028291/18.

AT BERE Alston Parish Hall between Thursday, March 29 and Tuesday, April 3, the handle of the gas meter store door was broken. CR/028447/18.

ON Wednesday, April 4 between 8.30am and 4.30pm oil was stolen from an oil tank in a garden in Mill Hill. CR/028794/18.
