POLICE were called at 1.40am this morning (Wednesday, September 25) following reports of a burglary at Co-op in Yelverton.

It was reported that a group of people, in possession of a trolley, had been seen leaving the area on foot.

Police units attended the area to carry out a search and located a vehicle which failed to stop. Further searches located one man in a tree and one man in the river — Tavistock firefighters were called around 4am to rescue the man from the river.

Two men from Bristol, aged 27 and 29, along with a 35-year-old man from Plymouth and a 32-year-old man from Barnstaple have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. They all remain in police custody at this time.
