TAVISTOCK police have thanked members of the public for their support during a fatal collision on Plymouth Road on Saturday, January 18.

The road was closed after an 80-year-old man from the Callington area suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, by air ambulance. The man later died in hospital on Wednesday, January 22.

Tavistock inspector Mark Sloman said: ‘We want to thank members of the public for their help and understanding during a difficult and traumatic situation, particularly to those who assisted immediately after the accident with first aid and management of traffic before the arrival of the emergency services.’

A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision.
